As a towel dries you off, it scrapes off tiny pieces of your skin... These pieces, now wet dry along with the towel... Day by day, more is added, old ones get wet/dry, etc.
Well, over time they start to decompose and start to smell.
We are wiping away dead skin cells that showering didn't completely remove.
When we throw them on the floor or sit them on things they get dirty, also when water drys it holds in everything that was in the air around it. So dust molecules and things in the air that are dirty.
even after you are clean there is still dead skin sloughing off and who wants to use a towel you have dried your butt on again, i wouldn't

I have a rotation- I always use one for my hair and one for my body, SO i use one for my body then the next day I use that one on my hair the and put the one I used on my hair the day before in the wash. so really I use it twice before it gets washed. It really bugs me when my roommate uses one towel to clean the inside of the toilet, and then uses that same towel to clean the outside of toilet tank, outside of toilet bowl, and then the entire bathroom sink. The first thing you should get your roomie is a toilet bowl brush. That will clean the inside of the bowl and nothing else, after all that is what they are for. I clean my sinks and tub with a sponge that I can just toss out afterwards so the germs aren't just lingering around. Your roomate is gross if they use one towel for everything, especially the toilet and then other parts of the bathroom. Your roomie is just doing a half azz job of cleaning and just smearing germs and bacteria around. Pretty gross. You should really just clean it yourself if it will be done properly.
it would not be so bad if she did the cleaning in a specif order.. sink and counter, tub then toilet.. but it doesn't sound like that so ya.. you have a right to be discussed.. if i were you i would get a good disinfectant and give the sink and counter top a good sanitizing after she is done (or ask her to do it) make sure its one that kills Bactria..

I use disposable toilet brushes..the ones that clip to the end of the wand and then you flush. Then I spray bleach under the lid around the rim. This kills all the yucky stuff. Then I use a sponge to clean the sink, tub THEN the toilet. Everything I use is antibacterial and I finish it off with a good spray of Lysol all over everything including the floor around the toilet. I finish by running the sponge under SUPER (our water is set so high it can scald you) hot water then pop in mocrowave 2 min to kill germs.

So I clean everything in the bathroom with them except...the toilet and bathtub. For the toilet I use a toilet brush with comet, and for the tub, I use a scrubby sponge with comet. I also still wash my floor by hand, my bathroom isn't that big, so it seems easier to me.
My wife used to clean in a hospital...one towel is fine but the inside of the toilet is the last thing!! Give me a break! Your 'friend ' needs to wake up!

Keep a bottle of Mr. Clean multipurpose bathroom cleaner in the bathroom with a clean rag next to it. Tell your roommate that the sink is to be washed first, than the tub, than the toilet, run the rag through the wash and place it back next to the cleaner. (Keep a bunch of old washclothes handy for bathroom rags) By the way it is really gross to wash the toilet and THAN the sink with the same rag! yuck! lol
I use a cleaning wash cloth (buy them 10 for 3 bucks) rinsed out often, and bleach solution in a spray bottle. I scrub toilet bowl interior with bowl brush and Ajax. Vacuum floor before cleaning the bathroom. It eliminates hairs on the washcloth. Spray bleach solution in tub area after your shower and the tub will stay clean.

I even use paper towels to mop the bathroom floor.

I am in college. My roommate is a very messy person overall and I don't like the guy. Today I found my bath towel in his room. He most likely used it or his girlfriend that is ALWAYS over. How should I tell my roommate not to use my towel?How to tell my roommate not to use my bath towel?
Sorry to hear about your roommate problems. I had a similiar situation with my roommate when I was in college. She would use my towels and eat my food. I just told her that we needed to have a roommate meeting becasue I wanted us being roommates to work out. I just told her that I did not like her eating my food and using my towel. I also gave her the chance to voice any concerns on things I may have been doing that upset her. I am sure if you just mention it to him like that he will not use your towel anymore. Can you get any type of illness/ailment after using a bath towel that was placed on an outer toilet seat?
I once read that a toilet ';sprays'; germs out when you flush it,, presumably over everything. Today while I was showering, I stored my towel on the closed toilet seat, and while I was drying myself off, I wiped over my mouth, and the towel kind of went in. Could the germs that were on the toilet seat have gotten into my mouth and will get me sick, or am I overhtinking it?

It is possible but highly unlikely that you would have any thing to worry about in this incident however even clean hospital toilets have bacteria on them and laying anything on them and using them near your face could put you at a small risk of a multitude of things. But if your not having any symptoms I don't think that I would sweat it. Just my opinion not any form of medical advice. well what happened was...I had to go to my sisters to get a bath (shes working away) because our walls in the bathroom have just been painted and my mum said the paint will melt because of the heat of the bath water, and so i walked half way and rememberd that I had forgotten to bring my own towel with me...I can't use one of my sisters because they're all white and i have fake tan on my legs and she'd go mad if her towel went brown, and I couldn't be bothered walking all the way back home to get my own towel so I broke into your house (cant believe you didnt notice) and I stole your bath towel...Sorry

It's to go with the bathroom decor. It makes it look prettier. For example, I got a beautiful towl set for my wedding, and it's hanging up with the handtowels and wash cloths on top in the bathroom. I got a shower curtain to match and the towels are never used. It's to make it look nice in there and their nice towels that we don't want used and washed because it makes them fade and not look as nice, lol.
Okay, I know I'll be booed, but...
I am a woman and I don't believe in having towels gathering dust, yet no one can use them. When I have company, I pull out a hand towel and lay by sink. If they spend the night and will take a shower I provide them with a clean set of towels.
All my towels are nice, so I do not reserve pretty towels for company, I deserve nice towels as well. The same with china, I eat out of nice china daily, I'm not taking it with me, thank God, I done enough dishes in my lifetime. I drink out of wine goblets, even if all am drinking is Kool-Aid. I am as special as my friends, so I treat myself.
My house is spotless, and everything has its place. And I love to decorate, but terrycloth, as a decorative item has never been my thing, call me crazy!!!

I'm not like that but my oldest sister is. When I visited her she walks me into the bathroom and tells me...These towels are for you, but we don't use these other ones because they're too nice to have to wash and dry like the regular towels and plus they match with the shower curtain.

It's to go with the bathroom decor. It makes it look prettier. For example, I got a beautiful towl set for my wedding, and it's hanging up with the handtowels and wash cloths on top in the bathroom. I got a shower curtain to match and the towels are never used. It's to make it look nice in there and their nice towels that we don't want used and washed because it makes them fade and not look as nice, lol.

I am a woman and I don't believe in having towels gathering dust, yet no one can use them. When I have company, I pull out a hand towel and lay by sink. If they spend the night and will take a shower I provide them with a clean set of towels.
All my towels are nice, so I do not reserve pretty towels for company, I deserve nice towels as well. The same with china, I eat out of nice china daily, I'm not taking it with me, thank God, I done enough dishes in my lifetime. I drink out of wine goblets, even if all am drinking is Kool-Aid. I am as special as my friends, so I treat myself.
My house is spotless, and everything has its place. And I love to decorate, but terrycloth, as a decorative item has never been my thing, call me crazy!!!

I'm not like that but my oldest sister is. When I visited her she walks me into the bathroom and tells me...These towels are for you, but we don't use these other ones because they're too nice to have to wash and dry like the regular towels and plus they match with the shower curtain.

I use my bath towels more than once to dry off after my shower or bath, I don't see any point in washing them every single time because all your using them for is to dry off your already clean body. Recently a friend of mine told me that was disgusting and that germs were probably living in my towels. I am just curious if anybody does this and if anybody thinks it's disgusting? I never use them more than 3 times without washing them and after drying off I always hang the towel up to dry. so let me know what yall thinkUsing the same bath towel more than once?
My granddaughter says ';yuck...so I may wipe my face the second time on the same section that I wiped my bottom on the first time?'; AS has been voiced...you are clean when everything is wiped and then the towel is hung to dry between showers..YA I have had some people in my life that are really fanatics about that but yet they don't wash their hands after using the toilet...AND I might be working with that person and using the same equipment (phone,computer,etc) We had ';pig outs'; at the last place I worked and I wouldn't eat anything that I knew came from someone who didn't wash their hands. Stick around the lavatory once in awhile and you will be surprised at the number that just walk out the door.Using the same bath towel more than once?
There's nothing wrong with it. Most germs die after a day anyways if they have no source of energy. And as you said, you aren't leaving them in wet wads somewhere, you hang them up to dry so no mould spores could grow. Why else would fancy hotels be encouraging guests to reuse their towels? It helps reduce water consumption so consider yourself a contributer to a greener environment. =)
Oh,please!! Some people r so fussy, they'll be getting OCD one of these days,lol! I hope ur friend will learn to relax a bit on stuff like this b4 she gets it,lol!! Nothing wrong with re-using ur bath towels, provided u observe 2 things:1st, hang them in sunlight 4 about 1 hour or more after u use them %26amp; before u hang them back up in their usual places......that'll kill any germs, bec sunlight is a powerful disinfectant........2nd, don't forget to wash the towels regularly every week or so.
I reuse my towels and change them twice a week. I also change our sheets weekly and our pillow cases every other day. I've never gotten sick from any of them. As you said, if you shower on a daily basis and then hang the towels up to dry, how dirty can they get?
I give myself, my husband and my kids a clean bathtowel once a week. I know that might be nasty to some but that's the way we do it we wash the towels every Monday and on Tuesday each week they have a nice new clean towel.
You are wiping water off a clean body. I see no harm in that. My fiance thinks its gross but that because of how he was raised and i was raised to re use towels. It's just a matter of personal preference.
I reuse my towels. Your wiping a clean body and there is no 100% way to keep germs away. If you hang it up to dry no reason you can't reuse it a few times.recipes cream
