because we use a towel to clean ourselves.. and once it is used it gets dirty so we wash it and reuse it again to clean ourselves.
You wash your towels so you don't get moldy mil due.
I wash mine in order to get rid of dead skin,and bacteria just to sanitize it so it will be clean with less chance of harboring bacteria.
