L.O.L. Soap is not needed as the shower will be so hot it will burn the flesh off your bones, yes it will vary in temperature, and if your going to take a towel it should probably be heat resistant, kevlar might work.Should one take a towel %26amp; bath soap to the Perseid meteor shower?

a towel to lay on maybe, but no soap is needed. unless you are dirty, then clean up.
