Anyone know anything about velour/terry blend bath towels?

I am looking to buy new towels for my bathroom. I want the SOFTEST towel. My question is why aren't more bath towels like the beach towel material? There has to be a reason.... But they are so much softer!

So then the real question i have is..... I came across some of those velour/terry towels where one side is velour (like a beach towel) and the other side is terry (so you still get the thickness), and they are so nice and exactly what I want, but i've only seen a couple of them. So I am wondering if there is any downside to these? Would it be safe to buy them? I'm just confused as to why they wouldn't make more of them if they are comparable in every other way to regular bath towelsAnyone know anything about velour/terry blend bath towels?
They are great, but you have to wash them a few times before you use them. For some reason, they leave a lot more lint than other towels do and it tends to stick to wet skin. I think it took me 3 times of washing them before they were lint free. Another hint, use vinegar in the rinse water, it makes them extra soft without affecting their absorbency like fabric softeners do.Anyone know anything about velour/terry blend bath towels?
It has been my experience that the velour side just isn't as absorbent as the terry side. They also shed a lot of lint, both in the wash and on your shin. I would rather just invest in good quality, thick terrycloth towels.

I also find that washing them in hot water with white vinegar in the rinse water makes them nice and soft.
